Summer Fun in Frisco, Dillon, Keystone, Breckenridge & Silverthorne

breckenridge co fun parkThere are plenty of fun summer activities for the whole family or your particular group. Travel between Frisco and Dillon on the Lake Dillon Water Taxi. Take a family trip on the paved bike trails of Summit County, in the forest or along the shores of Lake Dillon, with Frisco bike rentals. Have the whole group experience mountain biking in Summit County as you head down the ski slopes once the snow melts at Breckenridge, Copper, Keystone in Summit County or nearby at Vail or Beaver Creek in Eagle County. Gather up the whole gang for a day at a Mountain Fun Park in Breckenridge or Glenwood Springs. If tennis is your game, there are plenty of courts around the county, or book a scenic day trip to access areas outside of Summit County. You can also try out skeet shooting at a ranch in the Arapahoe National Forest near Ute Pass.

Water Taxi Not available summer 2017


water taxi lake dillon coloradoOn Lake Dillon in Summit County you are able to take a water taxi between the marinas in Frisco and Dillon. The lake is surrounded on three sides by mountain peaks. Being in the middle of the lake with a view of snow capped peaks and the Continental Divide is breathtaking. There are outdoor restaurants at both marinas should you want to grab a bite to eat before heading back out on the water. Bring along your canine companion if you like. The taxi is also handicapped accessible from the Frisco side of the lake. If you would like to ride around the lake on the bike path one way and return by water, you may load your bike onto the taxi.

Cost: $10 Adult, $8 Child 3-11, Free Child 2 and under and dogs, $1 each Bikes, Trailers & Burleys
Tour Times: Varies, 10 AM – 5 PM weekdays, 10 AM – 6PM weekends

Whatever your riding experience, age, or fitness level there is a bike for you, your child, and even a “bicycle made for two”. You are also able to start a ride in Breckenridge, ride downhill to Frisco and drop off your bike there, using the Summit Stage for the other half of your trip.

Mountain Biking

Trails are classified as green, blue or black just like ski trails. Take a chair lift to the top of the ski hill and then get your adrenalin fix as you point your bike downhill.

Peak 8 of the ski area transforms in summer to the Peak 8 Fun Park. Activities include: chairlift rides, mountain biking, Alpine Slide, Gold Run Coaster, climbing wall, bungee trampoline, maze, and mini-golf. Rides may be purchased individually or you may purchase a day pass for unlimited activities.

glenwood colorado cave parkGlenwood Caverns Adventure Park
Take a gondola to the top of the mountain overlooking Glenwood Springs and the Colorado River valley. The Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park offers cave tours as well as thrill rides: Alpine Coaster, Giant Canyon Swing, Bungee Jump, and the Soaring Eagle Zip Ride. In addition there are a large number of activities for the whole family: climbing wall, maze, 4D Motion Theater, mechanical bull, gold panning, wagon rides, and an Old West photo shop. Glenwood Springs is about an hour and a half drive west on Interstate 70 from Summit County, and the drive includes the spectacular Glenwood Canyon of the Colorado River. Also in Glenwood is the world’s largest hot pool and slide and the Glenwood Vapor Caves and Spa. There is plenty to fill up a day trip from your home base.

Tennis


summit county tennis courtsThere are both public and private courts around Summit County. Breckenridge Recreation Center has outdoor courts, hard court and clay with lights, as well as two indoor courts. Frisco, Dillon and Silverthorne each have two free public outdoor hard courts, available on a first come first serve basis. The Tennis Center at Keystone offers six outdoor courts.

Scenic Day Trip

Skeet Shooting
