This stretch of river includes the Class III Brown’s Canyon, the most rafted piece of whitewater in the country and is for rafters seven and older. For those who are physically active and 15 and over, there are advanced whitewater sections of the Arkansas River upstream from Brown’s Canyon that demand good paddling skills and for the Class V Pine Creek prior rafting experience. Many of the trips may be combined with a Zip Line Adventure or Rock Climbing. The raft company offers extended raft trips with overnight camping, as well as bunk houses at the outpost that are available for rent.

Trip Option 1 | Half Day Brown’s Canyon Colorado Raft Trip

Trip Option 4| 24 Hours Rafting & Camping in Brown’s Canyon


overnight raft trips coloradoThis Colorado rafting trip is our Brown’s Canyon Sizzler trip set up as an overnight. You will arrive mid-afternoon the first day, raft into Browns Canyon, camp and have dinner in the canyon. A gear raft with all of your personal gear and provisions for your overnight stay will accompany you. You will awake to a delicious breakfast in the canyon, paddle out mid-morning and be back at your car before noon on the second day. Bring your sleeping bag; the raft company will handle everything else. If you do not have a sleeping bag, you are able to arrange rental.

Trip Option 1 | Half Day Numbers Raft Trip

The pioneer whitewater enthusiasts who first ran this northern section of the Arkansas did not bother to label rapids with intimidating names describing their thrills. They are simply numbered, but you may lose track counting off the eight rapids on this section. Each Class III-V rapid is punctuated by continuous whitewater in between, including a steep ledge drop into No. 5.

As you can imagine, the smaller size of the raft makes the waves, rapids, and holes much bigger, better, and wetter.

Trip Option 4 | 2 Day Numbers Advanced Raft Trip


whitewater rafting coloradoThe 2 Day Advanced trip combines the best whitewater of the Arkansas River. You will start with the class III-IV Numbers and end at the bottom of Brown’s Canyon. This trip provides excellent advanced whitewater with beautiful scenery. Your camp site is just above Brown’s Canyon in the proposed wilderness area. This trip is excellent for groups looking to get away from it all for a couple of days. The trip includes lunch, dinner, breakfast, a snack and all your camping needs. You only need to bring your personal sleeping bag, and if you do not have a sleeping bag they are available for rent.

These Class III rapids are merely a warm-up for what comes next. Get ready to paddle hard as you journey through the Rite of Passage, the gates of Pine Creek rafting, where the river narrows by half. Here you will encounter the most continuous rapids in Colorado, where Pine Creek rafting trips truly become an adventure – the river becomes a creek and its gradient drops an astounding 200 feet with a must-make crux move.

The most advanced section on the Arkansas River begins in the little mountain town of Granite, which quickly fades away as you enter the exciting Granite Gorge. These Class III rapids are merely a warm-up for what comes next. Get ready to paddle hard as you journey through the Rite of Passage, the gates of Pine Creek, where the river narrows by half. Trip Option 3 | 3 Day ‘Mild to Wild’ Raft Trip


whitewater rafting coloradoThis trip is the ultimate overnight experience in Colorado packed with all kinds of adventures. Your first two days are full of Class III whitewater fun. The first night your camp site is in the majestic and remote Brown’s Canyon where your guides will prepare a gourmet dinner for you. Hiking and fishing options abound at camp, or just relax under the stars. Wake to a delicious breakfast and raft the rest of the canyon through rapids like Zoom Flume, the Seven Stairs and Seidel’s Suckhole. After your riverside lunch, you will jump into Inflatable Kayaks (“duckies”) and paddle them to the take out. At the end of your second day on the river, you will be picked up and driven upstream to your next riverside camp. The fun is not over for the day. Spend the remainder of the afternoon rock climbing and rappelling riverside in Granite Gorge. No experience is necessary; you will be taught all you need to know. On the third morning, after a hearty breakfast, you will rappel from your camp into Granite Gorge, where your rafts will be waiting for you at the river for this incredible day. Prepare to run the most exhilarating whitewater on the Arkansas, the Class IV & V Pine Creek and the Numbers—also known as The Gauntlet. This trip provides the perfect progression from intermediate to the most advanced whitewater. The raft company takes care of all the details; all you need to bring is your sleeping bag, and if you do not have a sleeping bag they are available for rent.

    The river is usually closed for rafting by this date. You might want to look at the Class III trips on the Colorado. They go out into October.
