Trip Option 1 | Leadville Group Dogsled Tour

On the group tour, two people ride on the dogsled at a time while the other guests ride on a sleigh that is pulled by the guide on a snowmobile. Periodically, you will stop and switch drivers and riders. If you want your family to have the dogsled to yourselves, you may reserve the entire dogsled by purchasing any empty seats at the adult price. You may also add a kennel tour or a box lunch, with your choice of Ham & Swiss or Turkey & Cheddar sandwich, chips, cookie, soda or bottled water, to your tour.

Cost Tour: $80 Adult, $40 Children ages 3-8
Cost Lunch: $16, must be ordered 24 hours in advance
Tour Times: Tours depart between 8:45 AM and 3:30 PM daily
Duration: 1 hour 20 minutes (1 hour on the trail)
Maximum Number of People: 6 per tour
Distance Covered: 5 miles

Trip Option 2 | Summit County Group Dogsled Tour


frisco co dog sleddingThis tour is an awesome 6-mile tour along the gorgeous winding trails of the Swan River Valley. Each dog sled trip begins with friendly, knowledgeable guides explaining how to run the sled and how to work with the beautiful Siberian Huskies on your team. The tour, which can handle up to 6 people, is run as a “relay” – guests will switch off between running the dogs, riding in the dogsled, and riding on a small passenger sleigh with the guide, stopping along the way for everyone to trade places. The guests riding in the snowmobile sleigh have the opportunity to take great action shots and video of the participants on the dog sled. This tour is a unique, interactive and absolutely thrilling way to experience dog sledding and the Rocky Mountains.

Cost: $75.00 Adult, $40 Children ages 4-8
Tour Times: 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:15 PM, 2:15 PM, 3:15 PM, 4:15 PM (Closed on most Mondays, some holidays and spring break exceptions, closed Xmas Eve and Xmas Day)

Recommended to bring: Dress in ski clothing with winter boots, gloves or mittens, scarf or neck warmer, goggles or sunglasses. Snowsuits and boots are available at no additional charge if you need them. Gloves, neck warmers, goggles or sunglasses, as well as fleece outerwear is available for purchase.

Trip Option 1 | Leadville Tagsled Tour


dog sledding frisco coThis tour accommodates 3 adults, 2 adults and 2 children, or 1 adult and 4 children on each Tagsled without a snowmobile. Two dogsleds are joined together and are pulled by a large group of 10-12 dogs. The guide is on the front dogsled with up to 2 riders and the second dogsled will also have customers on board. As you get out onto the trails, you have the opportunity to drive, ride and control a larger team. This tour is completely dog powered and whenever the sleds are moving everyone is on board. Overall, this is a peaceful, serene tour with your guide. This is a great way to dogsled but have the guide with you to help control the dog team. If you have a larger group, tours will leave in 15 minute intervals.

Cost: $155 Adult, $80 Children ages 3-8
Tour Times: Tours depart between 8:45 AM and 3:30 PM daily

Trip Option 1 | Leadville Kennel Tour


dog sledding breckenridge coIf you would like to learn more about the sled dogs, then this tour is for you, and may be added to your tour or you may also make the trip just to visit the dogs. During the narrated tour, you will hear about rescue and placement activities with active racing kennels (the dogs are almost all former racers), Alaskan versus Siberian Huskies, basic kennel set up, exercise and training regimes, the sled dog diet, the gear used for winter tours. The outfitter does not actively breed on site, but sometimes they have puppies adopted from other kennels. If puppies are on site and are old enough for visitors, you will get to love them too.

Cost: $30 Adult, $15 Child ages 6-11, Free Child ages 3-6 (must be carried or hand held at all times)
Tour Times: 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM (not available during peak holiday season 12/19/13 to 1/9/14)
Duration: 45 minutes

Recommended to bring: Dress in warm clothing as the kennels are outside.
